Head of Youth Services at Plainville (CT) Public Library

The Town of Plainville is currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic leader for the Head of Youth Services position in the Plainville Public Library. This is a full-time, managerial, non-union position, 35 hours per week with a possible option of a four-day work week.

Salary range is $55,000 - $64,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Lucrative benefit package, including but not limited to, health, dental, life insurance, long term disability, and a defined contribution retirement plan.

Duties for this position include training, supervising, and scheduling Youth Services Department staff; planning, overseeing, and implementing programs, events, and storytimes for children and teens; managing the budget for the Youth Services Department; overseeing the collection and management of materials for children and teens; providing reference services; administering publicity and public relations; monthly reporting on department activity; and community outreach.

Qualifications desired include master’s degree in library and information studies (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution, or equivalent degree and library experience. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a professional setting and at least two years (2) of supervisory experience.
