SENIOR LAW LIBRARIAN

The Maine Legislature’s Law and Legislative Reference Library, a nonpartisan staff office of the Legislative Council, is seeking applicants for the position of full-time SENIOR LAW LIBRARIAN. This position performs complex and diverse legal and legislative research for library patrons with a high degree of skill, accuracy, and independence. It also manages several of the library’s physical and digital collections with little to no supervision. Employees in this position work in our library in Augusta, are enthusiastic about public service and supporting the work of the Maine legislature, and conduct themselves in a highly confidential, professional and nonpartisan manner. Overtime may be required during the legislative session.
Qualifications: A successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree of library science; at least 3 years of experience as a research law librarian (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted); proven competence using online legal research platforms and print legal research sources; attention to detail; and excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Salary and Benefits: The salary range for this position is $70,886.40 to $98,571.20. The bi-weekly dollar values of some State-paid benefits for full-time employees include $14.92 for dental insurance; 13.29% of employee’s pay towards retirement; and at least 85% ($466.54) of health insurance premiums.
