Academic Library

This full time, professional librarian position requires a Master of Library Science degree to coordinate efforts in developing, maintaining, and assessing print and electronic collections, ensuring they are of appropriate size and align with the academic and research needs of the university. This newly envisioned position also assists with research services, instruction, the liaison program, and other activities in support of the work unit and profession.

Join highly integrated team at the Angelo State University’s (ASU) Porter Henderson Library and become a member of the RamFam in west/west-central Texas. Library collections support a wide range of curricular and research needs for students and faculty across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. Our print and digital collections thrive on a healthy budget and great partnerships with faculty. We will start an integrated library system conversion process in the summer of 2025 with full implementation in the summer of 2026 but currently function on the EBSCO Discovery System and Voyager. We strive to create a work environment based on communication, trust, and growth mindsets towards change with opportunities for personal and professional development – all within a broader values-based culture. Our special collections unit, The Dr. Ralph R. Chase West Texas Collection, is housed at the neighboring ASU Mayer Museum. Our main building launched a remodeled commons area on the first floor in May 2023, and plans are in the works for remodeling the lower level and 2nd floor. The building also houses various academic partners, such as the Center for Distance Learning and Instruction, IT support for Blackboard, the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects, The Freshman College (first year experience and advising), the Academic Support Center (tutoring and writing center), plus the Department of Communications and Mass Media. The Porter Henderson Library and its building partners serve as a central academic service point to everyone on campus and its surrounding community members.

We seek applicants with strong leadership skills and experience in library collection development to help take our collections into the future of university growth.
