The newly renovated and expanded Sherborn Library opened its doors in Spring 2023, which included a 4,000 sq. ft Children’s Wing addition, a large Community Meeting Room and Trustees Conference Room. Due to a recent promotion, we are seeking a part-time, non-benefitted, 16-hour a week, Senior Library Assistant to join our excellent team and provide services in our new Library. Responsibilities include: staffing the circulation desk and children’s desk when needed, checking materials in and out to patrons, processing materials sent from other Minuteman libraries, retrieving requested materials from the stacks, answering and directing phone calls, addressing patrons’ questions about the Library and its services, assisting the public with printing, scanning and basic computer and eBook questions. This position works a variety of daytime and afternoon shifts and at least one evening shift, as well as one Saturday a month.
Qualifications
The position of Senior Library Assistant requires a Bachelor Degree. The ideal candidate will possess superior organizational skills, oral, written, and interpersonal communication ability; exceptional customer service experience is required. A familiarity with the use of computer hardware, basic software programs is required and attention to detail is necessary.
